"My name is
Bill Moulder, class of 1956. To my surprise and much to the bewilderment of
my classmates, I became a Kansas City Police Officer. It was really Mr.
Bradley’s fault. You may remember him; he was a typing teacher at Paseo.
My career spanned two police departments and forty-three years. I left
Kansas City after 25 years to be the Police Chief in Des Moines, Iowa. I
got to do that for 18 years.
My wife and
high-school sweetheart, Louise Pollaro was a Paseo cheerleader. We live in
Des Moines, Iowa and celebrated our 57th wedding anniversary this past year.
Although I have retired because you cannot be a police officer after age 65,
she has continued to work as a travel agent sending people all over the
world. Although I am retired, I started a consulting business to stay
connected to law enforcement."
“policing” has gone from “Dragnet” to “Reality TV” -- and Bill has had a
front row seat to the evolution. He'll share those changes with us and
Louise will be providing observations from a wife’s perspective.
